Hi! I’m Shivani, a passionate Mandarin Chinese tutor based in Chennai, India. I’ve been learning Mandarin for over 4 years and teaching for 1 year, and I hold an HSK Level 3 certificate. I’ve had the joy of teaching students from Sri Lanka, the United States, and now also work with Indian learners who are curious about this beautiful language.

My journey with Mandarin goes beyond textbooks—it’s a part of my life. I’ve made deep, meaningful connections with native Chinese friends, which has given me real exposure to the language as it’s naturally spoken. I love exploring the meaning and cultural roots behind each character—because I believe that each Chinese character holds a philosophy, a story, a truth. That’s why I fell in love with this language.

Along with Mandarin, I’m also learning French and Japanese, and I’ve read over 300 books in my life. I believe learning is not a task—it’s a lifelong joy. And teaching is my passion. I aim to make my classes immersive, culturally rich, and deeply meaningful.

💡 My Teaching Method – LRSW (Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing)
I use the LRSW method, which balances all four key skills of language learning:

Listening: Practice through native conversations, audio lessons, and dialogue

Reading: Understand characters from the basics, with contextual meaning

Speaking: Build confidence in tones and pronunciation from the start

Writing: Learn stroke order, sentence formation, and composition

This method ensures that students don’t just “study” Mandarin—they live it.
